Ignite creativity in your social media campaigns!

When a brand comes up with an interesting campaign, they stand to be the talk of the town with all the buzz surrounding them, heightening chances of drawing in potential customers.

Here we look at some successful campaigns brands had come up with.

p.s. you could take them as your inspirations!

1) Circles.Life: The 3DollarBaller

Known as the newest telco in Singapore, they are a big deal as they do not run operations similar to already existing companies (SingTel, StarHub & M1). Being the first network operator without a storefront, they wanted to be on a consumer's top-of-mind at the end of their mobile subscription with another telco.

Among their many successful campaigns, one was them coming up with a publicity stunt to promote their latest offering - unlimited data on demand for just S$3. Without revealing their brand name, they had a life-sized vending machine that dispensed S$50 notes in exchange for S$3. Participant rate was so high as huge crowds gathered to try their luck at winning S$50.

Influencers were engaged to spread the buzz on their Instagram accounts.

By choosing not to reveal themselves until a day after the event to keep the level anticipation to a maximum, the campaign was way more than just a mere success - even drawing in a substantial amount of media coverage.

Honestly, I'm just waiting for July, until my current mobile subscription with another telco ends so that I can switch over to Circles.Life. I just love how quirky they are in their campaigns!

2) Guinness: A Brew For Your Thoughts

St. Patrick's Day is a cultural & religious celebration held annually on 17th March to honor the patron saint of Ireland, St. Patrick. As one of the most well-known Irish brewing companies, Guinness has pretty much been associated with St. Patrick's Day. On Guinness' official website, it states they are being enjoyed in more than 150 countries on this special day.

To get people excited, Guinness took to Facebook & Instagram. They came up with the hashtag "#StacheForCharity" , to be used by those who post themselves with their Guinness "stache" - where Guinness promised to donate $1 for every picture posted, to their Guinness Gives Back Fund.

By providing consumers the ability to easily contribute for a good cause, Guinness stood a chance in improving and increasing their brand perception, with many who joined in and shared their Guinness "stache" pictures. While Guinness technically paid $1 for each post, the number of people who were exposed to each of the posts are likely greater than the total number of posts.

Good call, Guinness!

3) AirBnB: Facebook Live Feed "We Are Here"

To show the kinds of exciting experiences one can take part in when they step out of their comfort zones, AirBnB invited people from all around the world to participate in a 24-hour Facebook live feed called "We Are Here". Protagonists in the video experienced live street dance in Seoul, visited a cooking class in Venezuela and surfed on Californian beaches - all transported via Facebook Live.

With this campaign, AirBnB garnered over 6.2 million views of the 6 live streams around the world. Through filming using helmet cameras and integrating Facebook comments in the narration, they showed how the immersive feeling of actually taking part in what is happening on screen can be created for viewers just by watching the live video.

I have to admit, watching the video increased my temptations to travel to far-off countries (which I haven't done before) ... but I just might after the end of finals in April!

Thanks for reading! Catch you again in my next post ;)

@Goh Yw

I was in the area at the time, but there was really such a big crowd that I didn't have the patience to try it out! Maybe I would if they came out with another engaging campaign in future, it seems like a waste to miss it!

I personally enjoyed the article of the Circleslife one too! I remember that campaign being very very popular and friends around me were talking about it. But the queue was so insane! Did you had a go at it?

Really smart use of viral marketing campaign for CirclesLife, I remember that so many people went crazy over it and the queue lasted for hours! I actually thought it was real, turns out it was just a publicity stunt. Guess they got their objectives right!
