Females... we all know how annoying it is when we purchase a makeup product (e.g. lipstick, foundation) and we find that no matter how hard we try, it's in the wrong shade and just doesn't suit our skin tone?
Heading down to the store just to have it exchanged for the right shade can seem too much of a hassle; worst of all when the product has been bought online and the brand does not have a physical store. To top it off, when it is a brand based overseas and it will cost you a MILLION YEARS just to get the exchanged product to your location.
In this situation, we would all appreciate some sort of augmented reality (AR) technology for us to try on the make-up before the actual purchase, won't we?
L'Oreal incorporated AR technology with their Makeup Genius app - available on both the Apple Store & Google Play Store.
Trying on make-up has never been easier; with Makeup Genius letting users try on make-up virtually just by using their phone's camera. Being the first app of its kind to allow users the flexibility and convenience of trying on makeup without the hassle of actually heading to the store, L'Oreal garnered huge amounts of attention from the New York Times to Vanity Fair, further driving the success of their mobile marketing.
L'Oreal's video introducing the Makeup Genius:
AR technology is a game-changer, constantly changing the way we interact with the world. With L'Oreal having the Makeup Genius app, they provide not only impactful, but also engaging experiences with their customers.
I personally am a huge fan of L'Oreal, and I find the Makeup Genius really helpful and convenient (especially for a lazy person like me, I don't fancy spending time in a Watson's to choose the best shade of foundation). Kudos to L'Oreal in incorporating AR technology to assist their customers! If you are a L'Oreal fan like I am, this will be an app worth checking out if you haven't already :-)
Share with me some great mobile marketing campaigns you have come across!
Thanks for reading :-)

I know, right? For a lazy person like me, this technology saves me so much time!

Yes, the colour payoff might look different when we "apply" a certain lipstick color (for example) on the app versus when we actually swatch the colour in stores. I would not say the colours will be 100% accurate, but it is definitely a good gauge in helping one see how the color is like. Still a very smart incorporation of AR technology to me though!
Personally as a guy, i am not very familiar with makeup stuff. But this definitely looks cool! Certainly saves a lot of time for ladies. But don't you agree that pictures and real-life will look different sometimes?
This is truly brilliant. Gone are the days where we would just spend hours and hours in Sephora trying out every single shade to match us, not only it is a waste of time, it is a waste of product as well! Hope more brands will hope onto this AR technology, it is so much more convenient for consumers.
